Hey all,
The National Doryman’s 2007 season was a great success! Congratulations to Mitch Kahn and Jim Birdsell for winning the ‘07 NDA overall title, once again, living legends! Also, studly props go to Shane Mellem and James Bray for winning The Great Catalina Dory Race (this was also their first ever channel crossing and definitely not a fluke with that very respectable time). NDA is looking stronger than ever and we are all looking forward to the ‘08 summer season. I predict 20 plus boats at the Oceanfest next year! I will be scheduling the NDA banquet at the Dana Point Hennessey’s for a date in November, date TBA. I will be updating the NDA overall trophy as well as the Catalina Trophy. I will be asking all of the old timers and past champions to try and remember results from long ago so we can update the trophy’s. Once again, what an exciting dory racing season. With the emergence of some top new teams, Jon Van Duinwyk and Augie Camello, Ian Frias and James Bray, Dick DeBoer and Brett Wolf next year will be as competitive as ever! ‘08 Nationals will be on the West Coast, either LACO or San Diego, so next year, we will be racing longer 3-lappers to get ready to take them down, keep rowing in the off season! Take care, talk to you soon.
Sincerely,
Dick DeBoer
NDA President
